Shadowbane Code of Conduct

Infractions or violations of this Code of Conduct may result in warnings, temporary account suspension, permanent account closure or any other disciplinary measure deemed appropriate by Ubi (as defined in the Terms of Use) and at its sole discretion. "Role-playing" is not an excuse for violating any of the rules of the Code of Conduct.

1. The Shadowbane Code of Conduct governing your use of the Shadowbane online gaming service (“Shadowbane Service”) is an addendum to the ubi.com Terms of Use, located at http://www.ubi.com/US/Info/TermsOfUse.htm.

2. HARASSMENT & ABUSE: You may not harass or threaten other players, nor use any sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive expressions or statements. This applies to any language.

3. HATE: You may not organize nor be a member of any guilds or groups within the Shadowbane Service that are based on, or espouse, any racist, sexist, anti-religious, anti-ethnic, anti-homosexual, or any other philosophy deemed to be hate-mongering.

4. IMPERSONATION: You may not impersonate any Ubi or Wolfpack Studios employee, including without limitation Customer Care Representatives (CCR) or in-game Cast Members.

5. HACKING: You may not modify any part of the Shadowbane client, server or any part of the Shadowbane or Ubi web pages located at http://www.shadowbane.com and http://www.ubi.com. You will not attempt to interfere with, hack into, or decipher any transmissions to or from the clients and servers running the Shadowbane Service, nor will you use any game hacking/altering/cheating software or tools. You will not use any automated scripting or “macroing” tools or software without the prior written approval of Ubi. Use of these types of programs will result in immediate termination of your account and may subject you to civil and/or criminal liability.

6. TRANSFERS: You may not arrange for the exchange or transfer of any unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, obscene, vulgar, harassing, defamatory, hateful, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable content while using the Shadowbane Service and Shadowbane and Ubi web sites. You will not post or transmit unsolicited advertising, promotional materials, or other forms of solicitation within the Shadowbane game world and Service. You will not upload, transfer, or transmit via the Shadowbane Service, or the Shadowbane and Ubi web sites, any copyrighted materials or content for which you do not own all the appropriate legal rights, unless you have the express written permission of the author or copyright holder.

7. OBEDIENCE: You must follow all instructions from authorized game administrators while playing the Shadowbane Service or while using the official Shadowbane and/or Ubi forums and communication tools.

8. THEFT OF SERVICES: You must be a legitimate subscriber in good standing to use the Shadowbane Service. You may not give false information or intentionally hide any information when registering for the Shadowbane Service. You will not play Shadowbane on any server that is not controlled or authorized by Ubi, its lawful designees, or an authorized Shadowbane publisher. You will not create, use, or provide any server emulator or other website where Shadowbane may be played online. In addition, you will not post or distribute any utilities, emulators or other software tools related to the Shadowbane Service without the prior written permission of Ubi.

9. EXPLOITS: You must not exploit any defect or bug in Shadowbane. You must not communicate the existence of any such exploitable bug (bugs that grant any user an unintended benefits in game), either directly or through public posting, and you must promptly report any such bug via the in-game "CCR petition" command or via the support form at http://sbsupport.ubi.com.

NAMING POLICY: When selecting a Shadowbane character, guild, city or object name, you must abide by the following Shadowbane Naming Policy. You must use your best judgment to avoid gray areas. You are fully responsible for all activities conducted through your Shadowbane Service account or under your account ID. Names in Shadowbane are encouraged to reflect the high fantasy genre of the game. You will not be able to change a character’s name in the future.

I. Your character name must not violate the Shadowbane Code of Conduct. This notably relates to names that are without limitation offensive, sexually explicit, vulgar, racist, hateful, obscene, defamatory, or any other language that is offensive in nature (including common swear words, name concerned with the anatomy, and intentional misspellings, anagrams, and homonyms of these words).

II. You shall not use names which could harass or damage the reputation of a Shadowbane player, group of players, or employees of Ubi and/or Wolfpack Studios.

III. Character names must not be a name or handle of any Ubi and/or Wolfpack Studios employee and/or a name that may mislead other players to believe you to be an employee of Ubi and/or Wolfpack Studios.

IV. You shall not use names which in any manner are related to religions.

V. Character names must not be proper names of a NPC or an area within Shadowbane. You may use specific areas in your guild’s name if you want to help promote role-playing.

VI. Character names must not be a combination of words that produces an offensive result or violates any of the above rules.

VII. Character names must not use misspellings or alternative spellings of names that violate any of the previous rules.

VIII. Character names must not include any registered trademark names.

IX. Ubi Soft Entertainment reserves the right to change, at its sole discretion, names that are deemed vulgar, offensive or otherwise inappropriate.

Terms capitalized in this Code of Conduct shall be a reference to and construed pursuant to the Terms of Use.
